Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim. This question yesterday was a question that could be dealt with for a few years, actually. And one important thing about this topic of brotherhood… The Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, who said that the reason for destroying the Ummah is to bring up the Fitnah of the past – Shaytan’s Fitnah of the past, separations, hurts, negativities, that are over; to bring it up again and thereby practically renewing it.
When you tell something or think about it, you experience what you are thinking about. Your emotions get involved and you experience this story that you have already experienced, that has already been buried, again – it comes to life. That’s how people are, that’s how society is, that’s how people are – they’re constantly talking about things that already happened and cooking them hot, so to speak, it’s cooked hot. This prevents the view that Allah ﷻ wants to grant us – the view of His gifts. Namely, that everything is new every moment, that He makes new creation every moment. This is not the end of creation.
Mawlana Sheikh Nazim has said that at every moment thousands, millions of angels are created for certain things, for certain occasions, for example. And he said, ‘Yawmun jadid, rizqun jadid’ – yes, that sounds like ‘another day another dollar’, but of course that’s not what is meant, there’s more to it. The Tajalli of the day, this day is unique – that is unique. You cannot say: “I have already seen this day…” – You have seen the sun before and also this environment here, but you cannot say that this moment is the same as yesterday. The divine Tajalli, this appearance, the divine appearance that Allah ﷻ sends, is different, is new, is indeed new – unprecedented. As Bamboo’s father always said: “We’ll never get together again so young.” Are we going to be so young again…? – Nope! We’re a minute older. Yes, we never come young together like… you understand German in the meantime, I think. Yes, it is always new, Allah ﷻ creates new. Maulana Sheikh Nazim often made the saying and said: “Allah ﷻ does not make photocopies.” – no photocopies… but new.
There’s a lot of secrets in there. And if you are preoccupied with what you already know, or have known, or experienced, or have traumas from it, then you are denied the view of this new, happy existence. It is a stroke of luck from Allah ﷻ, an absolute stroke of luck, a gift of luck for man, for the heart of man, that He always gives something new, that you yourself can also be new. You’re not the one from yesterday, the curmudgeon from yesterday – he’s happy today. How can that be?
“No, it can’t be. No, I’m a curmudgeon. I insist on it because it’s me, I’ve known myself for so many years, 20 years, 40 years, 60 years, 80 years…”
Allah ﷻ can’t change you? Isn’t the path change? Isn’t Sufism… isn’t it based on change? Isn’t man’s path based on change, that he changes? He himself changes, he perceives things differently, he perceives more, he gives… he comes more to love, to the Prophet ﷺ – and all the miracles are contained in it, more to the love of Allah ﷻ – and all the miracles are contained in it. And his secret, which has long been revealed to him by Allah ﷻ, will unfold in this way. Aren’t these good prospects? Can’t you just say, ‘we have hope, we’re happy’? That’s what we should say. We should constantly tell ourselves that and remind ourselves of it every day, and forbid ourselves from saying:
“No, it’s not going to get better, it’s hopeless. I still don’t have any money, and I’m still looking for an apartment, and I’m still looking for a wife, I’m still looking for a car, and I don’t have this or that – and I’m not feeling well either, I have to… I’m always unhappy and suspicious, and I trust people not. And he did this to me, and he did that, I will never forgive him…”
And so on, and to move there, in this area. Can’t you swap things around and make the intention? No, no, no – it’s all different, different than I think, than my habit, different than shaytan tries to convince me – it’s different. It’s super beautiful! Allah ﷻ gives the absolute beauty, the newness, the wonder, the ongoing miracle, the continuity – that we can be on this path at all, for years, is a miracle in itself. And then our Sheikh helps us, mentally, physically, humanly, in human life and also spiritually, helps us to realize these goals – these are all positive, hopeful, optimistic things. That’s why we should try to smile. There is a nostalgic sadness where the Prophet ﷺ said, that’s okay – from the times of old when things were different. But there is the hope and the joy that is given now – now – given in every moment, in every moment. That’s why you should stop trying to bring up things from the past that make your heart heavy, and through forgiveness, through changing things, through – there are so many solutions for this.
That is why the Prophet ﷺ also said that one of the best actions that Allah ﷻ loves the most is reconciliation – is reconciliation between two people. Either you reconcile with someone, or they reconcile with you, or you help other people reconcile. This is one of the most beloved – by Allah ﷻ the most beloved – one of the most beloved actions one can do. May Allah ﷻ make us aware, inshallah, and develop a higher perception, and an alertness… an alertness that enables us to observe ourselves; These habits – these are habits – to observe these habits and slowly dissolve them.
What dissolves everything, EVERYTHING, every problem, no matter how big a problem, is the love for the Prophet ﷺ, the love for the Sheikh, the love for Allah ﷻ – divine love, it dissolves everything. A drop, or less than a drop, of paradise that comes to us in this world, in this universe, brings so much happiness that we can hardly bear it. If Allah would send ﷻ of His love, of Himself, of His love – not that of Paradise, but of His – we couldn’t bear… then we would enter into unity immediately – immediately. Then this life here would be over immediately. So big, and so powerful, and so beautiful, and so magnificent – unimaginable to us. That’s why it’s given to us in human way, so to speak, according to our situation – it’s given to us that we can take. We should do that. We should take it.
We should take what is given to us and prevent ourselves from not taking it. There is always something that prevents you from taking this happiness, and this beauty, and this light, and the gifts of Allah ﷻ. Something wants to prevent that, and that is Shaytan, and he works with our thoughts and our emotions. May Allah ﷻ protect us from him, lead all people to happiness and goodness, and the good path, and the path of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, to follow his Sunnah, InshAllah.
